This is the time of year to recap last year’s accomplishments. Foremost, our Post has seen great improvement in our financial status. As always, that indicates that our members and guests have patronized our Canteen and events in major ways. It is also due to the Post Officers and committees constantly looking for ways to improve the facility without breaking the bank.

Through a Home Depot grant, we’ve completed the insulation project. We are using the remaining funds to upgrade the Post lighting to brighter, low energy fixtures. The Trustees are having all of our doors repaired to seal better. Hopefully, that means energy savings in 2013.

Our veterans continue to receive help for health-related problems and basic living needs. Everyone here should be proud of the transportation, food, presents and living assistance provided for veterans and their families experiencing distress.

The Men’s Auxiliary hosted a great Christmas party on December 14th. Great camaraderie, great food, “The Ford’s” and great fun. Thanks guys!

We had a drawing for a Life Membership, won by Davin Geegh. Also three $50 gifts for our Life Members, Jack DeBolt, Win Bosch and Richard Manlove.

Look for more fun events in January and February. On January12th, we will host a Euchre Tournament starting at 1:00 pm. There is a $5.00 entry fee.

The Ladies’ Auxiliary is having a Valentine’s Day Party on February 9th. A great Prime Rib dinner is planned along with dancing and lots of fun.

Your Francis Vinyard Post 2749 VFW is an important part of our veterans community and the Kendallville area. Let’s keep up the good work in 2013!

Come out on Wednesdays for thedinners and the drawings. Don’t forget best coneys in town on Saturdays!

Also, if you know a veteran who may qualify for membership, get their information to the Post Officers. We’re in recruiting mode again, so let’s shoot for another 100% year!
