By the time you read this, the holidays will be over and new resolutions will have been made. I hope one of them is to take part in the activities at the VFW.

We have had a good two months since the last newsletter. In November the Wednesday meal committee made turkey manhattans. They would like to thank Diane Sturgis for donating the turkey.

Our Valentine Dinner/Dance is on again this year. Profit will go to cancer. It will be on February 9th and the tickets can be picked up at the Club. The cost will be $15.00 per plate (Prime Rib and fixins!) with a minimum of 100 tickets sold.

It is scholarship time again. Please pick up your applications at the Post. Bonnie Hall again chaired the kids’ Christmas Party. Everyone agreed, it was one of the best. Carolyn Mortimore and Janice Wright were on her committee. Thanks Jill Wilson for bringing cookies and thanks Santa Claus for showing up again this year.

On December 1st, Carolyn Mortimore, Betty DeBolt, Janice Wright, Jill Wilson and their husbands attended the district rneeting at the New Haven VFW and helped fill stockings for Veterans that are ill or destitute.

On December 5th, Carolyn Mortimore and Sue Hamilton, 4th District Treasurer, toured the Fort Wayne V.A. Hospital and distributed stockings to the patients and chemo blankets to the hospital.

They also visited two homeless shelters in Fort Wayne, the Sheppard House and the Liberty Landing, where they handed out an additional sixty-five stockings.

We are very proud of the VFW and what they do for Veterans. Thanks to all who participated.

The Men’s Auxiliary hosted the adult Christmas Party. It was truly enjoyed by all. The Ladies Auxiliary gave away a Life Membership to Cindy Wilks and three gifts of fifty dollars to Gladys Neal, Ramona Days and Shawn Dunafin.

Remember to pray for our troops who are in harms way.
